US intelligence officials threatened to "immediately" stop data sharing with Ukraine in case of new strikes on Russian oil refineries
"The warnings were so widespread that calls were made to everyone whose surname sounded Ukrainian."

American intelligence representatives warned the Ukrainian embassy in the US that they would "immediately" stop transmitting intelligence if the Ukrainian army continues to strike Russian energy facilities. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing a source familiar with the situation.
"The warnings were so widespread that calls were made to everyone whose surname sounded Ukrainian," the source noted.
He emphasized that the US did not completely stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine, and missiles that Russia used to attack Kyiv in recent days had previously managed to bypass warning systems.
The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Washington had threatened to stop sharing intelligence.
"They told this to my generals, not to me. My generals said they received this information at the military level," the Ukrainian leader stated.
In turn, US President Donald Trump assured that intelligence sharing would continue.
"We are helping them and sharing information. We want the war to end," the head of the White House noted.
Earlier, Zelenskyy reported that for two consecutive nights, Ukrainian military personnel did not receive warnings about Russia launching ballistic missiles at Kyiv. As a result, strikes were carried out on all key energy facilities in the Ukrainian capital.
Prior to this, Trump announced an energy ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv, demanding that the Ukrainian army not strike Russian oil refineries (NPPs). Zelenskyy ordered not to carry out such strikes, and later accused Russia of violating the ceasefire regime.
After several days of prolonged Russian attacks, the Ukrainian president stated that he had lifted the ban on strikes on Russian oil refineries. He also noted that the absence of a warning from US intelligence about missile strikes was not a technical malfunction, as the Pentagon claimed, but a conscious decision.
At the same time, the Russian government stated that the Ukrainian army did not stop attacks on oil refineries and on Wednesday, October 14, struck two facilities, writes the Moscow Times.
