American Foundation Honors Bialiatski with "Service to Democracy" Medal
The decision was announced by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which supports the development of democratic institutions worldwide, including in Belarus, Radio Svaboda writes .
"NED (The National Endowment for Democracy) is honored to present Ales Bialiatski with the 'Service to Democracy' medal this fall, recognizing his decades of work promoting freedom, human rights, and democracy in Belarus," the organization stated.
The organization mentions that Bialiatski has endured imprisonment and persecution for resisting authoritarianism, documenting regime abuses, and defending those whose fundamental rights have been violated.
"We are proud to honor his extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment to a democratic future for Belarus," the non-governmental organization National Endowment for Democracy reported on its social media pages.

Its mission is to support the development of democracy, human rights, free media, civil society, and independent trade unions worldwide. The Foundation is known for its ties with Belarusian democratic forces.
