Two sons taken from a Belarusian woman in Italy — because she did not recognize the state and did not send her children to school or to the doctor

On October 16, 2025, in the town of Caprese Michelangelo in the province of Arezzo (Tuscany), the Carabinieri and social services took two boys, aged 8 and 4, from Nadezhda, a Belarusian woman, and her husband Harold Leo Valentino. This was reported by the Tuscan newspaper La Nazione.
The children are now 9 and 5 years old. The parents claim that they have not received any information about them for a year.
«We still know nothing. No information about where they are, how they are, what they eat, what they do, whether they are together or separated,» says Nadezhda.
The reason for taking the children was the family's lifestyle. The parents belong to the association "Noi è, io sono" ("We are, I am"), which does not recognize state authority. Therefore, the children did not attend school and did not visit a pediatrician. The youngest, according to reports, was not vaccinated. The newspaper notes that the boys had very few opportunities to interact with peers and adults outside the association. Many call it a "sect". On its website, the association describes itself as "a collection of living and self-determined men and women who freely, in coordinated cooperation, share common goals."
Over this year, Harold Leo Valentino tried to monetize the family's story. He wrote and published the book "The Great Deception. An Incredible Story at the Expense of the Weak — Two Children Aged 4 and 8."
«Why are we still not informed about the fate of our children? Maybe we should pay a ransom to get them back?» he says. He recounted that he even asked the authorities to send him a letter with the ransom amount, addressed to him as a "legally living person."
