In Switzerland, an updated monument to Tadeusz Kościuszko will be unveiled
On October 17 at 13:00 in Stadtpark in the Swiss city of Solothurn, the solemn unveiling of the updated monument to Tadeusz Kościuszko will take place. The ceremony will be held in Belarusian, after which participants will visit the nearby Kościuszko Museum, writes the Belarusian Institute of Public History.

The monument was installed in 2017 for the 200th anniversary of Kościuszko's death, at the initiative of Aleś Sapieha, founder and then-head of the Belarusian Association in Switzerland.

This year, the Maldzis initiative, together with the Maria Magdalena Radziwiłł Foundation, headed by Sapieha, updated the monument: a foundation made of Belarusian boulder, a new memorial plaque, and paving around it appeared. The stone was processed, and the plaque was made in Minsk, after which the materials were delivered to Switzerland. The project was implemented with private funds from Maksim Bahratsoŭ, Philip Daineka, and a patron who wished to remain anonymous.
It was in Solothurn that Kościuszko spent the last years of his life and died on October 15, 1817.
