Chinese are building a greenhouse near Brest, where artificial intelligence will monitor cucumbers and tomatoes
A fifth-generation greenhouse with an area of 1.6 hectares is planned to be built by the end of 2026.

A new greenhouse is being built on the territory of the "Berestye" complex in the Brest district, Belta reports. The project is being implemented together with Chinese partners according to an agreement signed in December 2025 in Shanghai.
The company that won the tender has already started preparatory work on the site. Equipment has been sent from China.
"Contractors guarantee to meet the deadlines. However, there are concerns about how the equipment will cross borders. If there are no problems, they promise to build the greenhouse by the end of this year," said Hryhory Panasiuk, chairman of the Brest District Executive Committee.
Artificial intelligence will monitor plant growth, temperature, and other indicators. Software will control systems that supply plants with necessary substances, as well as additional lighting.
The greenhouse plans to grow cucumbers and tomatoes year-round. Automation will allow for more produce per square meter and reduce costs.
The current construction is a trial phase of the project. If successful, the greenhouse complex could be expanded by another 10 hectares. In the third stage, joining the site to the "Brest" free economic zone is being considered.
