Belarusian woman waited more than two years to apply for a Schengen visa, and then simply missed it
Minsk resident Anastasia waited for more than two years for the opportunity to apply for a German Schengen visa, but as a result lost her appointment because she checked her email three days later. The woman shared her story on Threads, noted the publication "Zerkalo".

According to Anastasia, about two and a half years ago she joined the queue to submit documents. Recently, the woman checked her email and found the long-awaited letter from the German embassy. It offered her to come on December 2 to submit documents for a visa.
Initially, the Minsk resident felt shock and joy, but quickly noticed the letter's sent date — October 6. By then, three days had already passed, during which she was supposed to confirm the appointment. Since this did not happen, the woman received a notification about the cancellation of the appointment and the impossibility of challenging it. Instead of joy, she felt disappointment and stress.
The German Embassy in Minsk warns on its website that dates not confirmed online within three days and subsequently deleted from the system cannot be restored. Email inquiries regarding this matter are not considered.
In the comments to Anastasia's post, she was advised to follow the link from the first letter and check if the appointment was still active. However, the woman replied that the appointment had already been automatically deleted.
Other users also shared similar experiences. One participant in the discussion said that she checks her email every day for two years. Another admitted that due to a similar situation, she lost a whole year of waiting.
One user advised those waiting for a German visa appointment in Belarus to join a thematic group where new dates are tracked. According to her, she followed the information in the group, and when dates close to her turn began to be offered, she started checking her email particularly carefully to confirm the appointment on time.
