Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Its approach was not even warned about.
On the evening of October 12, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Only after the first explosions in the capital was a missile threat announced. According to the city mayor Vitali Klitschko, a missile hit a transport infrastructure object in the Dniprovskyi district.

At 22:09, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of a high-speed target in the direction of Kyiv, after which several explosions were heard in the city. Klitschko confirmed the strikes and urged residents to remain in shelters. Later, a missile threat was announced again in the capital.
Serhiy Beskresnov, a technology expert and freelance advisor to the President of Ukraine, known by the call sign Flash, noted that this is not the first time Ukraine's partners have failed to detect the launch of an S-400 missile system. He urged, however, not to draw premature conclusions, as there are nuances to all of this.
Earlier that same evening, a Russian drone damaged a 25-story residential building in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district. According to available data, two people were killed and 11 more were injured. During previous attacks on October 12, at least four people were injured in the capital. Debris fell in the Pecherskyi, Solomianskyi, and Darnytskyi districts. Electric transport temporarily stopped in some parts of the city due to a lack of electricity.
Andriy Kovalenko, former head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, stated that the explosions heard before the air raid alert were not related to Western media reports about US threats to stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.
Earlier, CNN, citing its sources, reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump warned Ukraine and its European allies: Washington may suspend intelligence sharing and deliveries of American weapons that European countries purchase for Ukraine if Kyiv does not stop long-range strikes on energy facilities in Russia. Another CNN source confirmed that the US threatened to reduce intelligence sharing.
Serhiy Beskresnov, in turn, noted that the US provides Ukraine with information about Russia's preparation for ballistic missile launches. He expressed confidence that Washington will not stop providing such information, as it is crucial for the safety of the civilian population.
