The film "Letters" by Belarusian documentarian Andrei Kutsela, about Belarusian political prisoners, has entered the section for best documentary projects, alongside 14 other films. The short-list participants were selected by members of the European Film Academy board and invited European experts, as reported by the Telegram channel "Holy Belawood".

The 39th European Film Awards ceremony will take place on January 16, 2027, in the capital of Greece — Athens.
Only five films out of 15 will make it to the final.
If Kutsela's film is nominated, it will be the third Belarusian film in the last few years to be nominated for the European Film Academy award.
In 2023, Hanna Badziaka and Aliaksandr Mihalkovich's film "Motherland" entered the "European Documentary" section, and a year ago, Mary Tamkovich's feature film "Under a Grey Sky" contended for the FIPRESCI award in the "European Discovery" nomination.
