In Berlin, a man hoisted a Palestinian flag on a flagpole in front of the Reichstag
He was soon arrested.

In Berlin, a man who hoisted a Palestinian flag on a flagpole in front of the Reichstag was arrested.
The incident occurred this morning, writes Bild. The unknown individual first took down the German flag that was flying on the flagpole in front of the building where the Bundestag convenes. After that, a large Palestinian flag was hoisted there.
The flag was waving in front of tourists visiting the Reichstag dome. Two other men were standing below, filming the events.
A fire brigade soon arrived at the scene. Rescuers used a ladder truck to bring the man down. By 12:30 PM, he was on the ground, but the Palestinian flag was still waving on the flagpole. All three suspects were arrested.
According to police data, the arrested individuals are 20, 22, and 32 years old. All three are German citizens without an immigration background.
As a result, the national monument "Flag of Unity" was damaged. This flag symbolizes the reunification of Germany—it was first raised on the night of October 3, 1990, when the country's unification took effect. With an area of 60 square meters, it is considered Germany's largest national flag. During this action, the flag-hoisting mechanism was damaged, making it impossible to raise it again today. The police are investigating this incident, including as willful damage to property.
Peacefully Against Genocide, which claimed responsibility for the action, positions itself as a non-violent civil resistance movement. It opposes German arms supplies to Israel and accuses the FRG government of complicity in crimes against Palestinians.
Last year, activists of this initiative wrote the names of deceased Palestinians on the asphalt near the Red City Hall in Berlin, unfurled a pro-Palestinian banner on the Brandenburg Gate, and painted inscriptions on the building of the Chancellor's Office. This year, they blocked the entrance to the Rheinmetall factory in Berlin, and in July, they participated in a protest against the concern together with Greta Thunberg.
