Giedroyc Prize winner announced. But only jury members know the true title of the book
On November 7, the winners of the 15th Jerzy Giedroyc Literary Prize were announced at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk. The jury awarded first and second places to works that participated in the competition in encrypted form, writes Belarusian PEN.

The true names of the authors and the titles of these books are not yet publicly announced for security reasons.
First place was awarded to a book whose author had to invent the pseudonym Aliaksandr Kastsiukovich and the mask-title "Lirnik" for participation. The jury honored the book "for high mastery of word and deep empathy".
Second place was awarded to a book with the mask-title "Tieslia Zhytsia" (The Carpenter of Life), whose author participated under the pseudonym Siarhei Dubautsevich. The book was honored "for the synthesis of documentary and artistic work and the fruitful development of Belarusian research prose".
And only the third book and author are public. The third prize was awarded to Artsiom Shukanau's novel "Pentakvantar" (books 1 and 2) — "for a vivid multicultural science fiction saga that expands the genre boundaries of Belarusian literature".
The Jerzy Giedroyc Prize has been awarded since 2012 and is considered the most important independent literary award in Belarus. Its organizers are Belarusian PEN and the International Union of Belarusian Writers.
