More than 600,000 Residents of Dnipropetrovsk Region Left Without Electricity After Russian Attack

Russia again massively attacked Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Residents are warned about prolonged outages.

After a night attack, more than 600,000 residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region were left without electricity, DTEK company reported. The outages affected Pavlohrad, Kamianske, Dnipro districts, as well as Dnipro city itself.

Energy workers are restoring electricity supply where the security situation allows. Repeated attacks complicate the work. First and foremost, specialists aim to connect critical infrastructure. Hospitals and other important facilities are being switched to backup power from generators.

Already on the evening of November 7, the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, reported more than 60,000 consumers without electricity in Dnipro after repeated strikes on energy infrastructure.

In Ovruch, Zhytomyr region, Russian drones, according to Mayor Ivan Korud, repeatedly attacked an electrical substation and completely destroyed it.

“Restoring the electricity supply will take a significant amount of time. I ask everyone to be prepared for a prolonged absence of electricity,” he warned.

The mayor also urged people, even after electricity is restored, to turn off facade lighting, shop windows, advertisements, and yard lights.

“Lights that can be turned off, should be turned off,” Korud emphasized.

In Kamianets-Podilskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region, an emergency power outage also occurred after strikes on November 7, reported the head of the region, Serhii Tiurin.

DTEK published photos of one of the destroyed substations, without specifying its location.

“What can be shown without causing harm. The situation is extremely difficult,” the company stated.

As of November 8, Ukrenergo announced energy consumption restrictions in the regions of Ukraine. Hourly outage schedules are in effect for the population, and power limits for industry. During emergency outages, pre-published schedules may not apply.
