Donald Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social that he is offering the position of White House Press Secretary to Dana White, head of the UFC. He called White a "tough fighter and warrior." Trump also asked him to bring six UFC fighters as assistants to defend the administration from "crazy leftists," writes the Guardian.
Images were attached to the post. Among them was an AI-generated image of White next to the presidential seal and photos of six fighters: Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harrison.
It is unclear whether this is a real plan or an attempt to distract attention from the Republican defeat in the elections.
CNN reported that White declined, and one of Trump's aides called the offer a joke. After that, White posted a photo of himself in the White House briefing room on Instagram with the caption "Onward, to a new chapter." At a press conference in London, he said he was flying to Washington and would meet Trump on Monday. He did not say whether he would accept the position.
In June, White organized a UFC fight at the White House for Trump's 80th birthday. He actively supported Trump in 2024.
For three weeks now, the White House has had no press secretary. The previous candidate, Katie Zakaria, was forced to resign.
