Kharkiv language school teacher who came to her parents died in a Crimean pre-trial detention center
Oleksandra Kazarovitskaya (Kolesnikova), a teacher from Kharkiv and co-founder of the local language school "Professional", died in a pre-trial detention center in Russian-annexed Crimea. Her death was reported by the administration of the educational institution, stating that the woman was "killed by Russia", writes the Meduza publication.

In the summer of 2026, Kazarovitskaya came to Sevastopol to help her parents, who lived there, sell their apartment and move to Turkey. She herself had recently been living there with her husband.
During her stay in Crimea, the woman was detained. According to her colleagues, the reason was correspondence found with a volunteer, which had been ongoing since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
After her detention, the teacher was placed in a solitary cell in a pre-trial detention center for three months, where she awaited trial. According to her colleagues, Russian authorities named suicide as the cause of death.
Journalists and human rights activists believe that Kazarovitskaya died in one of the two pre-trial detention centers in Simferopol. The woman was 44 years old, and is survived by her husband and daughter.
