It became known why YouTube deleted Sergey Tikhanovsky's streams

"We asked Sergey not to abuse the memory of Nikita Melkozyorov. Our request was ignored."

From the YouTube channel "A Country for Life", on which new videos by blogger Sergey Tikhanovsky have periodically appeared recently, four videos were deleted. These include two streams and two videos.

If you try to open them at the old address, a message appears: "Video unavailable. It was removed due to a copyright infringement."

As it turned out, the reason was Tikhanovsky's use of excerpts from an old video with Nikita Melkozyorov — a popular blogger who died in December 2025.

In his streams, Tikhanovsky repeatedly included that excerpt of the video where Melkozyorov calls to subscribe to the "A Country for Life" channel, showing subscribers that Melkozyorov supports him specifically.

"We appealed to YouTube through the standard procedure with a request to remove parts of the video with Nikita's call. An excerpt of Nikita Melkozyorov's conversation with lawyer Natalia Matskevich was used there. That episode of 'Life-Raspberry' was published in December 2023, a year and a half before Sergey Tikhanovsky was released. Nikita's phrase about supporting the political prisoner (at that moment) and the call to subscribe to his channel was said in a specific context and is not relevant to the current moment. Since Nikita is no longer with us, we cannot know if he would have agreed to his use in other videos, especially in a context that could traumatize loved ones and friends," the 'Life-Raspberry' project team explained to 'Nasha Niva'.

Tikhanovsky was asked not to use videos with Nikita without prior agreement, to delete what had already been used, and not to abuse his memory. But the blogger ignored the appeal. In the next stream, Tikhanovsky again included the video with Nikita as an advertisement for his channel.

As a result, the team used YouTube's copyright protection tools:

"Nikita was an impartial journalist and blogger, and the use of his name for someone's interests is unacceptable."

Complaints were filed against two streams and two videos on the channel. As a result, by YouTube's decision, they were completely removed.
