"Frankly, I most of all expect that cooperation with Poland will be restored as soon as possible. This is a country that sees itself as a real regional leader and does everything to achieve this – it pursues a pragmatic policy in which it cannot allow 'white spots'. The path with our refugees is a path to nowhere. I think they will understand this, draw a line under this story, and begin to build cooperation in the interests of the peoples on both sides of the border, returning to trade-economic and interpersonal interaction with Belarus," said Maksim Ryzhenkov.
But Lithuania, in the minister's opinion, is a country where politicians do not intend to think about their own people.
"They owe their positions not to the Lithuanian people, but to the Brussels or Washington 'obkoms' (regional committees). And they will do everything they are told from there. Therefore, they are unpredictable. It is difficult to work with a partner who wakes up with a headache and goes to sleep with a toothache, which causes their mood to constantly change. And if a window of opportunity opens for the resumption of cooperation, one will have to think several times about how much it is worth opening this window and if it should be opened at all," said Maksim Ryzhenkov.
