Near house No. 19 on 50 Years of October Street, a hot spring has been gushing for about three weeks already. A resident of Smolevichi is outraged: «No work is being done, just a continuous gush of hot water. Who will pay for this and why are no measures being taken?»

The Smolevichi Housing and Communal Services (ZhKKh) explained to 'Smolevichi Krai' that a serious accident occurred on this section of the heating network: a crack in the hot water pipeline used for heating.
Despite excavation and the installation of a repair clamp, the leak could not be completely stopped. The clamp is leaking water, which requires a more extensive repair.
The key reason for postponing the work was low temperatures. Currently, utility workers are using a temporary clamp that allows the system to operate, albeit with a defect.
«To avoid disconnecting people from heating and hot water, we are not performing repairs now», — noted the ZhKKh.
The logic of the services' actions is as follows: to eliminate the crack, it is necessary to completely shut off and drain the section of the heating main. Doing this in freezing temperatures is very risky — five houses and a school could quickly cool down, leading to potential emergencies (defrosting of internal systems, a sharp drop in indoor temperatures).
Therefore, a decision was made to wait for warmer weather — then disconnecting the heat will be less dangerous for residents, and repairs can be carried out with minimal consequences.
