Inna Kulei: Milinkevich is still bedridden, but closely follows the news

According to Inna Kulei, Milinkevich is still in the hospital, where it's not easy for him, as in addition to his main illness, "hospital bacteria" constantly cling to him. Therefore, he has to stay in different departments in rotation.

"But, many thanks to the doctors, physiotherapists came everywhere and helped with rehabilitation. We especially thank Dr. Anastasia, who not only treated Alexander but also simply spoke with him in Belarusian, because she is one of us, from Belarus. At that time, she spoke more, and Alexander only listened. Today he also speaks, still in a whisper, and unfortunately, we are not able to understand everything," Kulei writes.

According to her:

"For now, my husband is bedridden. He tries to sit up, but it's hard to maintain this position; his muscles are weak. Everything moves except for his left arm; it's sensitive but almost immobile for now. Communication with him is possible — sometimes with words, sometimes with gestures, sometimes with his eyes.

Alexander listens to podcasts and interviews; we relay news to him, show him videos and photos. There are still many hospital peculiarities, but day by day, very slowly, even sluggishly, the recovery process is ongoing."

In short, Alexander Milinkevich's rehabilitation will be complex and long-term, and how successful it will be — "only God knows."

Alexander Milinkevich is currently 78 years old. He is from Hrodna himself; from 1990 to 1996, he was Deputy Chairman of the Hrodna City Executive Committee, during which time he strongly promoted Belarusification in the city. In 2006, he was a candidate from the democratic opposition with the status of "the sole" candidate in the presidential elections. Afterwards, he founded the social movement "For Freedom" and was its leader until 2016. In recent years, he has been an unsalaried advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and one of the organizers of the "Free Belarusian University".

On November 25, 2023, Alexander Milinkevich underwent an operation to remove a blood clot that was blocking 80% of his carotid artery. During the operation, severe bleeding occurred, after which the politician fell into a very critical condition in intensive care. Doctors put him into a medically induced coma and eventually managed to stabilize and improve the situation. But since then, the politician has been receiving inpatient treatment in the hospital.
