"From the American side, from President Trump, there are signals that now is the time for compromises, that several steps forward can be made. We have made many compromises. Putin and his friends are not in prison. This is the biggest compromise the world has already made," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that Trump had proposed concluding a truce and temporarily freezing the war. Ukraine had agreed to an unconditional ceasefire, but Putin refused it.
"Today one reason, tomorrow another reason, and so on. We need to put pressure on him... Putin will stop this war if real pressure is put on him," Zelenskyy believes.
The next trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia on the war in Ukraine are planned to take place in Geneva on February 17-18.
