Tatsiana Kaneuskaya was Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's proxy during the 2020 presidential campaign. In August of the same year, after searches at her home, Tatsiana was detained. She was accused under Art. 293 of the Criminal Code ("mass riots") and Art. 292 of the Criminal Code ("seizure of buildings").
On May 4, 2021, the court sentenced the woman to 6 years of imprisonment.
During her sentence, Kaneuskaya was repeatedly placed in a punishment cell (SHIZA) and cell-type facility (PKT), and in 2022, she was transferred to a prison regime in Mahilioŭ. According to human rights defenders, she was restricted from visits and parcels and had health problems.
Tatsiana became involved in civil activism through her fight for her son, who was convicted under a drug-related article. She was one of the representatives of the "Mother's Movement 328" initiative, advocating for the softening of anti-drug legislation and initiating a hunger strike among mothers of convicts. In 2019, she ran for deputy.
