The American army is ready to strike Iran this Saturday, February 21. High-ranking national security officials informed US President Donald Trump about this, CBS News writes citing informed sources.
According to the TV channel's interlocutors, Trump has not yet made a final decision, but "dynamic and continuous" discussions on the matter are ongoing in the White House. In particular, the risks of escalation are being weighed, as well as the "political and military consequences of restraint."
One CBS source noted that in recent days, the Pentagon had temporarily moved part of its military contingent from the Middle East to Europe and back to the US. According to him, this usually happens before a possible military operation to protect American servicemen in case of an Iranian response.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated that there are "many reasons and arguments in favor of striking Iran," but Trump primarily relies on diplomacy.
"It would be very wise for Iran to make a deal with President Trump and his administration," Leavitt emphasized.
