Asos founder falls from 17th floor in Thailand

Co-founder of the large British online retailer Asos, 58-year-old Quentin Griffiths, has died in Thailand. According to media reports, the 58-year-old businessman was found dead after falling from the balcony of his 17th-floor apartment in a condominium in Pattaya.

Local police do not rule out the possibility of a criminal element, although no signs of forced entry or struggle were found in the residence. The final cause of death is to be determined by a forensic examination, which may take several months.

The tragedy occurred against the backdrop of a legal dispute between the millionaire and his ex-wife. She accused Griffiths of illegally appropriating £500,000 from their joint business, claiming he forged documents and sold land and company shares without her knowledge. Last year, the entrepreneur was detained but released after questioning. He denied the accusations, and the case was still under consideration at the time of his death.

Griffiths was one of the founders of Asos in 2000. Over time, the company grew into an international retail giant with a turnover of around £3 billion. He worked at the company until 2005, after which he sold some of his shares, earning millions. He later sued his accountants, claiming he suffered significant financial losses due to poor tax advice.

The businessman moved to Thailand in 2007, where he married for the second time. This marriage ended a few years ago.
