Saudi Arabia's largest oil refinery halted operations after Iranian drone attack
Today, March 2, 2026, Saudi Arabia's state company Aramco completely halted production at its giant oil refinery in Ras Tanura. The reason was an Iranian drone strike, which caused a fire on the refinery's territory.
The plant management decided not to take risks and paused all processes to check if critical equipment had been damaged.
This news shook global exchanges. Ras Tanura is one of the most important plants for the world fuel market, which is why Brent crude oil immediately rose by 9.32% in just a few hours.
Saudi authorities have not yet specified exact dates for when the plant will be relaunched.
