An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred in Cuba. It happened at dawn on March 17 in the east of the island. According to seismologists, the epicenter was located near Guantanamo province at a depth of about 15-20 kilometers, writes Euronews.

After the main tremor, several weaker aftershocks occurred in the same area. Authorities do not report any fatalities or serious damage, but civil defense services remain on alert as new tremors are possible.
This earthquake occurred shortly after a massive power outage in the country. In general, Cuba is often subjected to seismic activity, especially in the east, as a fault line between the Caribbean and North American tectonic plates runs through there.
