A new urban sculpture has appeared on the Town Hall in Vitebsk — a figure of a firefighter-observer. It was placed on the observation deck of the tower, write "Vitebskie Vesti".
The location for the sculpture was not chosen by chance. In the 19th century and until the early 20th century, the Town Hall was used as a fire observation post. A person was on duty there around the clock, watching the city to timely notice smoke or fire. This was especially important because at that time most buildings in Vitebsk were wooden, and fires could spread quickly.
The miniature image of the firefighter was created by sculptor Sergey Sotnikov.
This is already the fifth miniature sculpture installed in Vitebsk as part of a special city project that began in 2025. Previously, other figures appeared in the city, including a loving couple on Pushkin Bridge, as well as the characters "History Keeper", "Photographer" and "Artist" in the historical center.
