A large-scale persecution related to the European Humanities University continues in Belarus.
After the university in Vilnius was declared an "extremist organization," security forces initiated a mass criminal case for "assisting and financing extremist activities."
As of August 17, human rights defenders from "Viasna" know the names of more than 110 EHU students and their relatives who began to be persecuted in Belarus for their studies at EHU. In total, 175 people fell under repression, including the affected family members of the students.
The number of victims could be much higher, as authorities try to hide the repressions, and people are afraid to share data, human rights defenders note.
