Another nearly $2 million fundraiser for a sick child has been closed
Three-year-old Ulad Gladki from Navahrudak has type three spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). To help their son, his parents announced a charity fundraiser for the drug "Zolgensma," which stops the progression of the disease. Its cost is 1 million 815 thousand dollars. It is now known that the necessary sum has been successfully collected, writes "Onliner".
"Thank you to absolutely everyone who supported our family, extended a helping hand, and did not pass by. You are our guardian angels. Your kindness gave Ulad a future! Our gratitude is simply boundless," the boy's parents wrote on social media.
Just two months ago, when "Onliner" wrote about Ulad's story, about 74 thousand dollars had been collected. The fundraising was slow: according to the latest reports on social media, only 11.27% of the necessary amount was on the boy's charity account.
In Belarus, "Zolgensma" is administered only to children whose weight does not exceed 13.5 kilograms. In August, Ulad only needed to gain 500 grams to reach this critical limit.
Journalists contacted the boy's mother, Kseniya, to find out how the remaining money was collected in such a short time and where Ulad will receive the necessary treatment.
According to the mother, the Belarusian Union of Women greatly helped the family by transferring the missing funds from its charity account. Kseniya admitted that the opportunity to close the fundraiser came as a surprise and great joy to them, as it had been progressing very slowly before.
"We have already arrived at 'Mother and Child' and are preparing for the injection. I think Uladzik will receive the drug at the end of next week. For now, we are undergoing tests, ultrasound, cardiogram. Of course, I'm worried about how my son will behave during the procedure and how it will go. It will be an IV drip, he will have to lie down for some time, so we will probably have to turn on cartoons," Kseniya shares.

І зноў - закрылі только дзякуючы таму, што большая частка (значна большая!) патрэбнай сумы прыйшла з аднаго грашовага пераводу. Ад вельмі багатага чалавека, ці багатай установы, ці багатай фірмы. Ахвяраванняў простых людзей не хапала. І не будзе хапаць для збору мільёнаў у валюце. Дзяржава павінна дапамагаць.
