On October 23, Ukraine and Russia conducted another exchange of prisoners of war using Belarusian territory. The parties mutually exchanged 270 prisoners.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that among the freed Ukrainians are servicemen from various units of the Defense Forces, as well as nine civilians. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022.
Among those who returned are defenders of Mariupol, servicemen of the "Azov" National Guard Corps, border guards, territorial defense fighters, Naval, Ground, and Air Assault Forces, as well as employees of the State Special Transport Service.
According to the Ukrainian president, five people who were believed to have died as a result of the explosion in Olenivka in July 2022 were successfully returned. Zelenskyy also noted that many of the freed individuals had been illegally convicted in Russia.
The Russian servicemen transferred by Ukraine are currently in Belarus. After receiving medical and psychological assistance, they will be sent to Russia.
