After updating data in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, information about the liquidation of the Greek Catholic parish in Orsha appeared. This was unofficially reported in the summer of 2026, but there was no confirmation at that time, writes Katolik.life.
Until recently, the Greek Catholic parish of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Orsha was listed as active in the USR. Now the data indicates that the religious organization is in the process of liquidation. This procedure began on July 1. The decision on liquidation was made by the Vitebsk Regional Court.
Greek Catholics in Orsha did not have their own church and gathered in the local Roman Catholic church.
Updated data confirms that after the re-registration process of religious organizations in Belarus, 12 Greek Catholic parishes remain. 4 communities operate in Minsk, 2 in Vitebsk, and one each in Grodno, Mogilev, Gomel, Maladzyechna, Polotsk, and Lida.
Previously, the process of liquidation began for all three communities in the Brest region: in Baranavichy, Ivatsevichy, and Brest.
