The 'Parti Québécois' has already promised to hold a referendum on the province's independence, but only after US President Donald Trump's term of office ends.
It will be the third in Quebec's history, following the 1980 and 1995 referendums, when the majority voted to preserve the country's unity, but in the second instance, the difference was only 50.58%, AFP reminds.
Currently, according to polls, about 30% of its residents support the idea of provincial independence.
A similar referendum is scheduled to take place in two weeks in another province — Alberta.
