Polish bank Millennium warned Belarusians without residence permits about blocking account operations from December 12
For verification, Millennium requires a passport and a residence permit.

Belarusians who have accounts with the Polish bank Millennium have started receiving messages demanding that they update their documents by December 12, 2026. Otherwise, the bank warns of blocking operations on accounts and bank cards. For verification, Millennium requires a passport and a residence permit, Most writes.
Pavel opened an account at Bank Millennium with a Belarusian passport valid until 2028. He works legally in Poland and is awaiting a residence permit (his passport has a red stamp confirming the submission of documents).
Nevertheless, the man recently received a message from the bank stating that his document registered in the banking system had expired. The message implies that it could refer to either an identity document or a document confirming the right to stay in Poland.
Pavel was asked to visit a bank branch and update his details.
"If you do not present the document by December 12, 2026, we will block the ability to conduct operations on the account and transactions with the card," the message states.
Pavel contacted Millennium for clarification. In a response, a copy of which is available to Most, the bank reported that it now requires two valid documents from customers. In addition to a passport, one of the following documents must be presented: a Polish residence card (karta pobytu), a diplomatic, or a consular certificate.
What other Belarusians say
On social networks, Belarusians and Russians report similar messages. One client, who recounted a conversation with the bank, was told by an employee that the need to submit documents was due to the 19th package of European Union sanctions against Russia and Belarus. As a legal basis, she cited EU Regulations Hfls No. 2025/2033 and No. 2025/2041 of October 23, 2025.
Another Belarusian, who received a similar message, contacted Millennium via the mobile application. She explained that her passport was valid and asked for the legal basis requiring her to have a residence permit to continue using an already opened account.
In response, a bank employee informed her that she had received the notification by mistake.
"Please don't worry, everything is fine. You received the SMS by mistake. You can ignore the message. We apologize for the inconvenience," the response stated.

Значит, эта муть исходит "сверху".
