AFU struck the Proton plant in the city of Oryol

The "Proton-Elektrotex" plant produces elements that are used, among other things, for missile weaponry.

In May 2024, the US Department of the Treasury described OJSC "Proton" as a manufacturer of optoelectronic equipment. According to the Ukrainian War & Sanctions database, certain products of the enterprise are used in Russian weapons systems.

According to this database, the enterprise's components are associated with the production of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile-gun system, the Kh-71K "Kavyor" cruise missile, and the 9M723 ballistic missile of the Iskander-M complex.
