20-year-old woman took unpaid leave and became a courier for phone fraudsters
The woman collected money from deceived residents of the capital and the Minsk district, thinking she was helping law enforcement.
First, a resident of the Brest region received a call allegedly from an intercom service, and under the guise of processing documents, her personal data was obtained.
Other criminals intimidated the woman, stating that fraudsters were facilitating terrorism in her name, and threatened her with criminal liability. As a way out of the situation, they offered her to become a "freelance employee of the State Control Committee" and sent her documents, which she signed.
To complete her first assignment, the woman traveled to Minsk, taking unpaid leave from work. In the capital, she collected eight parcels from the victims, and then traveled abroad several times to hand over the cash to the fraudsters' accomplices.
Thanks to the actions of police officers, more than 160,000 rubles were saved, which will be returned to the victims.
The woman was detained in Minsk.
