In Israel, the investigation into the death of Yanina, a native of Belarus, has been completed

Israeli police have completed the investigation into the murder of 30-year-old Yanina Maswada (Rusinova), a native of Belarus. Her 28-year-old husband, Ali Maswada, is suspected of the murder. He is expected to be indicted on Thursday in the Haifa District Court, Reform.news reports .

On the night of September 25, Yanina was found in an apartment in Haifa with a severe neck injury. Medics attempted to resuscitate her, but the woman later died in the hospital. In the adjacent room at that time was the couple's two-month-old son. After the tragedy, the child was placed under the care of social services.

According to the investigation, the motive for the murder was the woman's decision to separate from her husband and leave their shared home. She was planning to return to Belarus with the child. The husband feared that his wife would not return to Israel after that.

Ali Maswada denied involvement in his wife's death from the outset. He claimed that the woman inflicted the wounds on herself, and he tried to stop the bleeding and save her. However, according to the police, the collected evidence refutes this version. In particular, the results of the forensic examination rule out the possibility that the deceased inflicted the fatal injuries upon herself.

Investigators also examined testimonies from Yanina's acquaintances and previous complaints of violence and threats from her husband. According to their information, the woman was afraid of the man because he threatened to harm her and take away the child.

At the crime scene, a knife was found, which is believed to have been used in the murder. Police believe that after the incident, the man tried to destroy evidence and create the appearance of suicide. Investigators also checked video recordings that the suspect's relatives referred to, claiming that Yanina allegedly threatened to commit suicide. These claims were not confirmed.

Israeli activist Lili Ben-Ami reported that Yanina's mother will be able to receive a recommendation from social services for custody of her grandson.

According to her, the police have already completed the investigation and submitted the materials to the prosecutor. After the indictment is filed, Ali Maswada will also lose his right to custody of the child.
