"Found correspondence in mother-in-law's phone." What is known about the suspect in the double murder in Brest

In late October, a double murder occurred in an apartment in one of Brest's residential complexes – the bodies of 35-year-old K. and her mother were found there. Both died from stab wounds. The deceased woman was married to a 50-year-old long-haul truck driver – he was later detained on suspicion of the crime.

After the first publication was released, a close family friend contacted Onliner. He shared details about the suspect's identity and recounted what preceded the tragedy.

The couple moved to Brest from Pruzhany, having built a two-room apartment in a new residential complex. K. worked as a cosmetologist and ran a beauty blog, where she occasionally shared personal details. Judging by her posts, she spoke highly of her husband.

However, recently the woman appeared depressed. She admitted to subscribers that she had been absent from social media for many months, and advised "never to betray yourself, to love and put yourself first."

Later, a close family friend contacted the editorial office. Here's what he said about the suspect himself and the atmosphere in the house on the eve of the tragedy:

— They moved to Brest after completing renovations in their new apartment. I know that initially, V. didn't want to leave Pruzhany — as if he had a premonition… As you wrote, he worked as a long-haul truck driver, constantly on trips. Acquaintances remembered him as an open, home-loving person. In the mornings, he went for a run, played tennis, cooked, and helped K.'s grandparents at their dacha. All his relatives live in another country, so he treated her close family quite warmly.

According to the interlocutor, his marriage to K. was the man's third. The couple had no children together – they had lost a child. From his second marriage, the man had a daughter, with whom he always had a good relationship: while she was growing up, she often spent weekends with them in Pruzhany.

Approximately a year ago, the relationship between the spouses began to crack, the family friend said. They lived as three in the two-room apartment – together with K.'s mother, who had arrived in Belarus several years prior.

— When K. was a teenager, her mother left for another family and moved to Ukraine. Essentially, the girl was raised by her paternal grandmother and grandfather; she was very attached to them. Her father and grandfather are no longer alive. Now, only her elderly grandmother remains, for whom all this is unbearably difficult to bear.

As the family friend explained, K. initially didn't want to accept her mother, but V. insisted, saying, "After all, she's your mom." As a result, they took her into their new apartment. The interlocutor assures that initially, the man treated his mother-in-law well: he tried to support her and gave her money monthly – she didn't work anywhere.

— What, in your opinion, could have happened?

— It all started approximately a year before the incident. V. began to notice correspondence on K.'s phone, although he refused to believe until the very end that she was seeing someone else. Literally a couple of days before the tragedy, he accidentally came across messages on his mother-in-law's phone – the mother and daughter were exchanging messages (the editorial team consciously omits the content of these messages for ethical reasons). When V. read this, he naturally became upset, started drinking, and tried to sort out their relationship. He felt betrayed by K.'s mother as well, whom he had treated warmly. For him, it was a kind of double blow. The police were called to the apartment a day before the tragedy. What exactly happened next – the investigation is currently determining.
