At the Medininkai border crossing point, Lithuanian border guards discovered a fake driver's license belonging to a Belarusian citizen who lives and works in Lithuania.

Late on Monday evening, officers of the Vilnius border outpost checked a 35-year-old Belarusian who was traveling from Lithuania to Belarus. The man has a Lithuanian temporary residence permit and was driving a Mercedes-Benz C320 with Lithuanian license plates.
During the inspection, he presented a Belarusian driver's license issued in 2020. The border guards had doubts about its authenticity. After a detailed check, they concluded that the document was likely completely forged: it did not comply with the requirements for the production of protected documents, and compared to a sample license, it lacked some mandatory information.
Since the man was driving a car without proper rights, he was issued an administrative fine of 300 euros.
The Vilnius border outpost has launched a pre-trial investigation on suspicion of document forgery or use of a forged document. For such a crime in Lithuania, community service, a fine, restriction of liberty, arrest, or imprisonment for up to four years are provided.
The Belarusian was detained and taken to the Vilnius border outpost. At the request of the detainee, his Mercedes-Benz will be handed over to a Latvian citizen who holds a valid driver's license.
