The test will show whether they cooperate either with the KGB or other secret cervices, says activist Marcalieu.
All opposition activists convicted over the post-election protest in Minsk on December 19, 2010, should take a lie detector test ahead of the coming parliamentary elections to prove that they do not cooperate with the Committee for State Security (KGB,) Siarhiej Marcalieu, told the co-chairman of the organizing committee of Narodnaya Hramada Belarusian Social Democratic Party.
“Those convicted in the case are rumored to have agreed under duress to cooperate with the KGB,” said Mr. Marcalieu.
“Letters of repentance sent by some politicians to Aliaksandr Lukashenka and a public statement made by former presidential candidate Alies Mikhalievich only added fuel to the fire. Some politicians even started talking about the appearance of KGB chief Zaytsaw`s faction in the opposition.”
“Opposition leaders do not trust each other,” the activist noted.
By taking a lie detector test, they will also prove that they do not cooperate with foreign security services, he said.
The tests will help restore trust in each other within the opposition and make it hard for state-run television channels to accuse opposition leaders of being “agents of influence” or “a fifth column,” which they do now and then, said Mr. Marcalieu.
He added that he was ready to take the test first.
