Former monastery in Belarus has been for sale for three years for one base unit
A building of the former Carmelite monastery in Hlybokaye, Vitebsk region, has been put up for auction in Belarus. This object was first attempted to be sold in May 2022 for just one base unit.

However, no buyers have been found in three years. The next auction will take place on June 11 on the «BelTA-Property» platform.
The two-story Carmelite monastery is a historical and cultural value. It was built in 1735. Its territory housed residential buildings, a library, a hospital, a pharmacy, and warehouses. In 1812, Napoleon Bonaparte stayed in the monastery for several days.
In 1865, the monastery was closed, and an Orthodox church was built on its territory. To this day, only one of the three buildings of the complex has survived.
11 years ago, a court declared the building of the former Carmelite monastery ownerless and transferred it to communal ownership. Over the past three years, attempts have been made several times to sell the object at auction for one base unit, but without success. As of January 1, 2025, the base unit is 42 rubles.
The lot includes a building with a total area of 1.28 thousand square meters and a land plot of 0.1001 hectares with a lease term of 40 years.
