Swindler pretended to be a security officer and deceived lonely rich women
In the Gomel region, a 44-year-old repeatedly convicted Minsk resident, who impersonated an employee of law enforcement agencies, was detained, reports the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Initially, the man, pretending to be a law enforcement officer, offered to help the 42-year-old daughter of a pensioner, in whose possession ammunition and explosives were found, avoid criminal prosecution. For this, he induced the woman to pay a bribe.
During further operational-search activities, it turned out that this was only one episode of his activities. Usually, the man searched dating sites and public places in Minsk for lonely affluent women.
He gained trust, started intimate relationships with women, and introduced himself as a high-ranking employee of the Ministry of Defense. To create the impression of a real officer, he displayed a military uniform with epaulets, although in reality he had no connection to any of the security agencies.
Under various fabricated pretexts, the man conned significant sums of money out of women. Some victims gave him their savings, and also took out loans to give him money.
At this moment, the investigation has identified some of the victims. The total amount of damage caused by him is about 150 thousand dollars. A criminal case has been initiated.
