Drunk Igor from Vitebsk no longer knows how to resist gifts from various brands. And he's already quitting his job at the factory.
It seems Belarusians are tired of the depressing news from their country and the equally complex news of global politics. So they decided to worry about a simple factory worker named Igor who drank too much.
A few days ago, Igor Vorokhobov from Vitebsk (he works at a factory) made a maximally sincere post in Threads in the middle of the night: «Hello. My name is Igor and I'm drunk walking home.»
It would seem that this touching story could have been buried under thousands of others — but the social network's algorithms decided that Belarusians should see it. In three days, that post gained more than 2.1 million views, 106 thousand likes, and 4 thousand comments.
People really started to worry about the guy: «Did you get home, Igor, is everything okay?», «Igor, this is support service calling. We support you.»
Young mothers wrote that they envy Igor: «My name is Anna, and I'm a mother on maternity leave. I'm happy for you, but not with all my heart,» — by the way, this comment gained more than 10 thousand likes. Another commenter supported her: «Similar situation. I also want to go somewhere home tipsy, and not all this stuff.»
Another woman boasted: «And I hired a nanny and also Igor! On Monday!»
And if you judge by the number of jokes, you can claim that every other person in Belarus is a stand-up comedian.
«Igor, if you meet my dad, who was also walking home drunk in 2010 — tell him that we moved.»
«Belarusian IT specialists have released a new neural network. It's called Iigor.»
«And imagine what will happen if Hollywood finds out about Igor? «On the world stock exchange, even the shares of some Belarusian potato fund have started to play differently.»
Some even suspected Larisa Dolina in Igor's popularity: «I think Dolina paid Meta to invent the Igor phenomenon so that everyone would forget about the Dolina phenomenon.»
Brands also reacted quickly, also coming to the comments for the Vitebsk resident. «Happy road to you, Igor!» — wrote from the official account of the ticket aggregator Aviasales Belarus. But the guy didn't get confused either: «I would have gone on a trip a long time ago if I had cheap airline tickets in my hands.»
While Aviasales were silent, a travel agency from Kazakhstan came to the comments and offered Igor a trip around their country.
The Minsk gastrobar «Elementum» announced that it is introducing the promo code «Igor.»
A Spanish language school offers two Spanish lessons as a gift using the same promo code: «You can come to lessons drunk, but better with Igor.»
A small enterprise that makes sofas noted: «Friends! Another 280 kilometers to Bobruisk for Igor and he's at «Divano Style». Own production! Sofa according to customer's sketches. Even from pictures from Pinterest. Your power of style and Igor's sleep! Igor, thank you, dear!»
The sports equipment salon SST hinted that walking on their treadmills is safer.
The modeling school «Ada models» offered to make Igor a professional model.
Individual entrepreneurs also got their bearings and started advertising their goods and services. For example, a woman who makes aromatic candles promised to give everyone a 5% discount with the promo code «Igor got home.»
Another woman who makes candles from bottles promised to give Igor a candle. And even added that she is ready to make a candle for him specifically from a beer bottle.
Someone took advantage of the situation and tried to find a new owner for a cat and a tomcat in the comments.
Adding to the irony of the situation is that back in February of this year, Igor wrote: «Threads is a good place. No one sees or reads me. You can write anything. No one will know what kind of idiot I am.» Now this post has almost 12 thousand likes.
Jokes about Igor went far beyond his thread. Threads users began to write comments about him under the most different posts.
For example, one girl posted a beautiful selfie with the caption: «Or am I the only one who doesn't understand the meaning of this social network? Can someone explain?». In the comments, one guy wrote to her: «Igor will sleep it off and explain everything tomorrow.» His comment collected almost 15 thousand likes — while the beauty's post only about 500.
A golden rain of gifts from brands also fell on Igor. For example, the Vitebsk furniture factory «Savlukov-Furniture» gave him a sofa for his mother, who will soon be celebrating her anniversary. People in the comments are already asking how much you can buy a sofa on which Igor sat.
Popular Belarusian blogger Kristina Levina, who makes wooden handbags with hand-painting, also offered to give her handbag to Igor's mother.
And «Belvest» noted that warm boots are waiting for Igor as a gift in one of their Vitebsk stores.
«Mark Formel» promises to give Igor their pajamas if their post gets 10 thousand likes — although there are only 4.5 thousand so far.
The cafe «Garage» offered the guy to come to them for free solyanka.
The visa company wrote that it will help Igor and his mother open visas to Europe.
The Belarusian jewelry brand Ego-Art offered Igor to replace old gold jewelry with new ones.
Blogger Anna Bond also became interested in the factory worker from Vitebsk: «I wonder if Igor has a wife? If not, I would invite him to my place, I just washed the floors.» Later, she actually invited Igor (who is not married) to visit her in Drozdy. But, in fairness, the guy now has no less a tough casting than at «Miss Belarus.»
Meanwhile, Igor launched the second season of the series about his life — he wrote in Threads that he was sick. Now people are worried about this and advise him on their treatment options.
In a few days, Igor has gathered 9 thousand followers in Threads.
And he is going to quit his job at the factory — he says it will happen on Monday.
