Two fishermen poisoned by carbon monoxide in a tent on Vileika Reservoir
In the Minsk region last weekend, three tragic fishing incidents occurred, resulting in the deaths of three men, reported the press service of the Investigative Committee.

On the evening of February 15, on the Vileika Reservoir, in a tent set directly on the ice near the village of Chyzhovichi, Vileika district, the bodies of two fishermen were found — a 53-year-old resident of Minsk and a 51-year-old resident of Asipovichy. The men showed no signs of life.
According to preliminary information, the cause of death could have been carbon monoxide poisoning. It is assumed that a heating device was used in the tent, and with insufficient ventilation, dangerous gas could have accumulated there.
A day earlier, on February 14, at about 4 PM, a 51-year-old resident of the agro-town Novy Dvor, Minsk district, was fishing with a friend. While crossing the Svislach river on ice, he fell into the water. The man who was nearby tried to help and pull his friend out of the hole, but could not do it on his own and called rescuers.
MNS employees promptly arrived at the scene and pulled the man out of the water, but he no longer showed signs of life. The second fisherman suffered frostbite to his fingers and toes during the rescue attempt. He was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving necessary medical attention.
