Dashkevich on Paznyak: "This is destructive work, it demoralizes, it divides." But he admires Tsikhanouskaya
Former leader of "Malady Front" and former political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich ranked politicians by their degree of influence on the history of Belarus.

During an interview with the YouTube channel "ChestnOK-LIVE," its author Aliaksandr Ivulin offered Zmitser Dashkevich a kind of blitz. He had to rank five figures of new Belarusian history from first to fifth place according to their influence on the country — without knowing who would be named next.
The first name mentioned was Mikalai Statkevich.
After a short pause, Dashkevich placed him in fourth place. He noted:
"Statkevich is faithful to what he has chosen, and he has always professed that ideas must be paid for. And every idea is worth what we are willing to pay for it. He pays a great deal, practically with his life, proving that the Belarusian idea of freedom, of truth, is worthy of such a sacrifice."
Next on the list was Aliaksandr Milinkevich. Dashkevich gave him fifth place.
"Milinkevich is cool, in my opinion, because he is one of those who boasts the least, and his words most closely match his actions. A consistent, focused person who has served Belarus for many years," Zmitser characterized him.
When the host named Viktar Babaryka, Dashkevich only had first, second, and third places left. He placed Babaryka in third, without commenting on his choice.
According to Dashkevich, first place belongs to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
He noted that she took on a responsibility "she had no intention of taking" in a situation where she could have said: "I have nothing to do with this, why should I?" According to Dashkevich, in her decision to take her husband's place after his arrest, Tsikhanouskaya was guided by love and, possibly, by the marriage vow "to be faithful in happiness and in adversity, in good fortune and in bad."
"And, besides this, she has gone very, very far. She develops as a person, as a politician, as a public figure. She rises high because she is a very adequate person, talented, sees problems... One can only admire her," Dashkevich said.
Last remained Zianon Paznyak, who consequently got second place. Dashkevich noted that this place was determined by the logic of the game itself.
However, reflecting on Paznyak's role, he moved to a broader philosophical assessment:
"Here it is very important to talk about truth being measured by love. If truth is not measured by love, it ceases to be truth. It becomes untruth. Unfortunately, I believe most of what Paznyak does, he does without love. And when you do something without love, you destroy. And this is destructive work. Work that demoralizes, that divides."
As an argument, he quoted the words of the Apostle Paul: "If I have faith to move mountains, and if I have prophecy and all revelations, but have not love — I am nothing." According to Dashkevich, even the presence of prophecy or strong faith without love turns into "a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."
"And there are many, unfortunately, people who seem to have prophecy, and seem to have faith, but they do it without love. And this is destructive work," Dashkevich concludes.
