Rumors have spread that AI-92 gasoline will disappear from Belarusian gas stations. "Belneftekhim" explained
Recently, motorists online have been actively discussing the possible disappearance of AI-92 gasoline from Belarusian gas stations. Is this truly to be expected? Ilya Ikan, chairman of the "Belneftekhim" concern, commented, writes BelTA.

According to Ilya Ikan, there is no talk yet of the imminent disappearance of 92-octane gasoline, but a trend towards a change in consumption structure truly exists.
Statistics show that the demand for AI-92 is gradually decreasing, and more and more drivers are choosing AI-95 and fuel with an even higher octane rating. This is especially noticeable in Minsk and the Minsk region, where the share of AI-95 already reaches 70-80% of the total volume of gasoline consumption.
The head of the concern noted that the modern vehicle fleet in Belarus is becoming more technological: many cars are equipped with turbocharged and high-performance engines that require high-quality high-octane fuel. Accordingly, manufacturers must respond to market needs.
Investment projects for the production of high-octane additives are already being implemented at Belarusian oil refineries. The project has already been implemented at one enterprise, and is starting at another. This will allow the market to be supplied with AI-95, AI-98, and even AI-100 gasoline in sufficient quantities.
At the same time, Ilya Ikan emphasized that AI-92 will remain on sale in the coming years. According to him, this type of gasoline will not disappear from Belarusian gas stations at least until 2030, as a significant portion of cars are still designed for it.
However, in the long term, the structure of the "gasoline basket" may change in favor of higher-octane grades — AI-95, AI-98, and AI-100.
