A Russian man had to prove paternity of a child born in Belarus. Why?

The reason that prompted the man to seek a genetic examination was the death of the woman with whom he had lived for a long time.

In 2009, the couple had a child. The woman, who was a citizen of Belarus, gave birth to the child in her homeland.

The 'father' field was filled out based on the mother's words, as the young people lived together but were not officially married.

Tragic events that occurred in the family at the end of 2025 required confirmation of kinship between the man and the child, given that the child is a minor. In such a case, a genetic examination was required as part of the legal proceedings.

During the study, experts from the Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee for the Brest region confirmed the man's paternity, reports the State Forensic Examination Committee.
