As reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee, a 60-year-old pensioner received a call from fake police officers who stated that $13,000 had been credited to her bank account. To avoid trouble because of this money, they advised her not to tell anyone what had happened and to follow their instructions.

Soon, the woman received another call from unknown individuals, who clarified if she had any savings. Upon receiving a negative answer, the callers demanded a favor: to go to a specified address and pick up money from another pensioner who had previously worked in law enforcement.
After picking up 1000 rubles using the code word "winter," the Minsk resident, following the instructions of her handlers, visited several shopping centers where she registered 21 SIM cards. Only then did she realize that she had become a victim of scammers. Taking all the SIM cards and the remaining money, she reported to the police.
There, it was established that the money was given to the woman by a pensioner who had also fallen victim to the scammers.
An investigation is being conducted into this incident. The money has been confiscated and will be returned to its owner.
