Two commercial vessels came under fire while attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by Reuters, citing three sources in maritime security and shipping.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also reported that two boats of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps opened fire without warning on a tanker off the coast of Oman.
The vessel targeted is believed to be an Indian supertanker carrying two million barrels of Iraqi oil.
Earlier, the Iranian military announced the resumption of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
