"We do not think that such statements deserve any comments. Belarus is our ally, we have a Union State with Belarus. But it is a sovereign state. Therefore, such statements are nothing more than an attempt at further incitement in terms of continuing the war and escalating tensions," emphasized the Kremlin representative.
On Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia is trying to draw Belarus deeper into the war against Ukraine and is considering plans for operations from Belarusian territory against Ukraine or one of the NATO countries.
"We know that additional contacts have taken place between the Russians and Alexander Lukashenka, the purpose of which is to convince him to join new Russian aggressive operations. In particular, Russia is considering plans for operations in the south and north directions from Belarusian territory — either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction in Ukraine, or against one of the NATO countries — specifically from Belarusian territory. Ukraine possesses the details of the conversation between Russia and Belarus," said the President of Ukraine.
