A mural dedicated to the deceased pilot Mikita Kukanenka opened in Polatsk PHOTOS
Events commemorating the fifth anniversary of the death of Belarusian pilots — Heroes of Belarus Mikita Kukanenka and Andrey Nichyparchyk — took place in Polatsk. As part of the memorial day, a mural was opened in Polatsk in honor of Mikita Kukanenka — a native of this city, writes Gorod214.by.

The mural depicts the pilot with a smile as a symbolic image of a person who "remained at height" even after death.

On May 19, 2021, Mikita Kukanenka and Andrey Nichyparchyk were performing a training flight near Baranavichy. During the flight, a technical malfunction occurred, and the aircraft began to rapidly lose altitude. According to the official version, the pilots did not leave the aircraft until the last moment to steer it as far as possible from residential buildings. As a result, they died. They were posthumously awarded the title of Heroes of Belarus.
