A 27-year-old Gomel resident beat his wife for several months, and at the end of March, killed her by inflicting no less than 35 blows. The woman died on the spot. She was pregnant — the term was at least ten weeks.
The prosecutor's office of the Gomel region has referred the case to court. The man is accused of torturing a pregnant woman and her murder with particular cruelty.
According to the case materials, the violence continued for many months. The man hit his wife on the head and dragged her by the hair even in public — in front of relatives, acquaintances, and also at work. The prosecutor's office reports that he was under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic substances.
At the end of March, in a rented apartment, he allegedly inflicted no less than 35 blows on his wife with his hands, feet, and blunt objects. About 12 blows landed on her head.
The woman died from her injuries.
At the time of the murder, her pregnancy was at least ten weeks. The investigation established that the accused knew about his wife's pregnancy.
