Russian language included in school curriculum in the Central African Republic, which has become Wagner's main African base
The decision was made at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission of Russia and the Central African Republic (CAR), and the country's Minister of Education, Aurelien-Simplice Kongbele-Zingas, signed the corresponding decree, TASS reports.

Russian language classes in CAR schools have been conducted by teachers from the "Russian House" in Bangui since 2024. In the past academic year, about 1.1 thousand schoolchildren in the country's capital studied it. Another 2 thousand children and adults annually attend free courses at the "Russian House".
In the 2024–2025 academic year, the Russian language appeared in the curricula of two private schools on the initiative of the leadership. Later, six more schools in Bangui approached the "Russian House" with a request to organize classes.
The Central African Republic has been in a state of civil war since 2013.
In 2018, Russia sent military instructors there, but, according to The Washington Post, these were actually fighters from the Wagner PMC.
It was in the CAR that "Wagner" established its largest African base in 2018, writes the Moscow Times.
The Russian PMC protected President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, helped repel the rebel offensive on Bangui in 2020-2021, and fought alongside the country's army against armed groups.
Political strategists and companies associated with "Wagner" also engaged in propaganda in the CAR, including through cartoons and the "Russian House" in Bangui. In return, the group gained access to the country's natural resources, including gold and diamond deposits, as well as forest resources.
