Political prisoner with disability Uladzimir Hundar transferred from prison to penal colony. He still has 13 years left after his prison term
As it became known from an informed source, in early October, political prisoner Uladzimir Hundar was transferred from Mogilev prison No. 4 to Babruisk penal colony No. 2 to serve his further sentence, writes "Svaboda".

Uladzimir Hundar had previously served a sentence in this penal colony, but in October 2023, the court assigned the political prisoner a stricter, prison regime, and he was sent to Mogilev prison. Now the three-year term has ended. However, according to the verdict, Hundar still has 13 years to remain behind bars.
Activist and local historian from Baranavichy Uladzimir Hundar was detained on December 30, 2020, in the "Autukhovich case" — allegedly for preparing a terrorist act. In 2023, as a result of two trials under four articles of the Criminal Code, the political prisoner was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison.
In prison, Uladzimir Hundar began writing poetry
The ability for poetry was there before, but it manifested itself in captivity due to particularly difficult circumstances, suggests the "Svaboda" interlocutor.
"Before, he helped Baranavichy poets publish their works, made book layouts, prepared them for printing, but he didn't write poetry himself, but he started doing so in prisons," the source recalled. Hundar's poems regularly reached freedom, but three years ago, when the political prisoner ended up in Mogilev prison, this stopped.
In recent months in Mogilev prison, according to the source, the political prisoner read a lot, recorded his impressions after prison walks, and shared his feelings.
"In the land of my captivity, the sunny brightness of a clear autumn has given way to cold gloom. The sky is covered with gray clouds, cold rains fall, and life burns in the flame of time. And my life in captivity, deprived of colorful beauty, burns in the captive flame," Uladzimir Hundar recently wrote in a letter from prison.
Why health is a particularly important factor in Hundar's case
Uladzimir Hundar has a second-group disability; the man has an amputated leg above the knee. In prisons, Hundar is forbidden to use a prosthesis; he moves on crutches. During his imprisonment in Grodno prison No. 1, Uladzimir Hundar had hearing problems, and now he has persistently high blood pressure.
"His back started hurting more, they even allowed him to be sent pain-relieving injections," the source also reported about Hundar's health condition.
Uladzimir Hundar is 66 years old. Human rights defenders have included Hundar in the list of 170 political prisoners who are in a particularly vulnerable state due to their health and are seeking his earliest release.
